Oman and Italy are exploring deeper ties in tourism development, heritage preservation, and cultural exchange, following a series of meetings held between Omani and Italian officials. Sayyid Ibrahim Said Al Busaidi, Oman’s Minister of Heritage and Tourism, recently visited Italy to discuss potential collaborations aimed at enhancing Oman’s tourism offerings and preserving its cultural heritage.
During his visit, Al Busaidi engaged with representatives from the Italian Alpine Club and Renco Company, focusing on the development of mountain and adventure tourism in Oman. These discussions highlighted the potential for incorporating Italian expertise in trail development and related services, which could diversify Oman’s tourism portfolio.
In addition, Al Busaidi visited the Colosseum Archaeological Park, where he met with management to learn about archaeological site preservation and heritage management. The dialogue centered on exchanging expertise and developing professional capabilities to improve visitor experiences at historical sites in both countries.
Efforts to promote sports tourism were also part of Al Busaidi’s agenda, as he met with representatives from Inter Milan. The discussions aimed to explore ways to showcase Oman’s tourism attractions to a broader international audience through sports-related initiatives.
The visit included a presentation on the Italian tourism market, identifying opportunities for Oman to strengthen its presence there. Meetings with Italian media organizations focused on highlighting Oman’s rich cultural heritage and diverse tourism experiences, seeking to attract more visitors from Italy.
These initiatives are part of Oman’s broader strategy to expand international partnerships, attract tourists from key markets, and leverage global expertise to develop its tourism products while safeguarding its cultural legacy.
