Oman and Pakistan have taken significant steps to enhance their bilateral cooperation by signing a visa exemption agreement and four memoranda of understanding (MoUs) in various sectors. The agreements were formalized during the official visit of Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi to Islamabad, where he met with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The visa exemption agreement facilitates easier travel for holders of diplomatic, special, service, and official passports between the two countries. This move is expected to streamline official interactions and bolster diplomatic engagements.
The MoUs focus on key areas including telecommunications, information technology, radio and television broadcasting, as well as the exchange of news and archival services. Specifically, they aim to enhance cooperation in these sectors, enabling the exchange of technical expertise and information between Oman and Pakistan.
The agreements were signed by Al Busaidi for Oman and Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar. The signing ceremony also included the approval of the minutes from the eighth session of their Joint Ministerial Committee, underscoring both nations’ commitment to expanding their bilateral relations.
These developments mark a continuation of efforts to strengthen institutional ties and improve coordination between government agencies in Oman and Pakistan. The agreements are seen as a step forward in developing partnerships across key sectors of mutual interest, signaling a robust future for Oman-Pakistan relations.
