Tim Cook has transitioned from his role as Apple’s chief executive to become the company’s executive chair, receiving a compensation package valued at approximately $47 million. This package comprises a $2 million base salary and $45 million in stock, with half of the stock award contingent on performance targets, while the rest will vest over a period of four years.
The shift in leadership sees John Ternus stepping into the CEO position. Ternus, who previously served as the head of hardware engineering at Apple, will now helm the company’s product strategy and operations. His compensation includes a $3 million base salary and a $55 million stock award, with a greater emphasis on performance-based incentives.
During his tenure as CEO, Tim Cook’s compensation exceeded $74 million in the year 2025, reflecting his pivotal role in Apple’s growth. Under Cook’s leadership, Apple experienced significant expansion, with its market valuation reaching an impressive $4.7 trillion.
In his new role as executive chair, Cook will concentrate on managing Apple’s external relationships. This includes overseeing the company’s interactions with governments and policymakers, as well as nurturing critical ties with international markets.
