Iraqi PM Strengthens Gulf Relations in Meeting with GCC Leader

In a bid to fortify relationships with neighboring Gulf countries, Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Al Zaidi has expressed his government’s dedication to enhancing ties during discussions with Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary General Jasem Al Budaiwi in Baghdad. The talks centered around bolstering collaboration in key areas such as economic development, investment, and regional partnerships. Al Zaidi emphasized that Iraq is embarking on a new chapter focused on establishing a modern state characterized by full sovereignty, a robust economy, adherence to the rule of law, and strengthened connections with Arab, regional, and international allies.

Secretary General Al Budaiwi acknowledged Iraq’s initiatives aimed at economic strengthening and anti-corruption efforts, while also expressing the GCC’s willingness to broaden alliances with Iraq across various sectors. The dialogue underscores a mutual interest in deepening cooperation, which is crucial as Iraq endeavors to mend and enhance its rapport with Gulf nations amid recent regional tensions.
