On the sidelines of the ASEAN ministerial meeting in Manila, Oman’s Foreign Minister, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, engaged in discussions with his Norwegian counterpart, Espen Barth Eide. This meeting coincided with the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation.
The dialogue between the two ministers centered on the enduring friendship between Oman and Norway. Both officials expressed a mutual desire to enhance bilateral cooperation, exploring avenues to bolster collaboration in areas of shared interest.
In addition to strengthening ties, Al Busaidi and Eide also shared their perspectives on recent developments in the region. They underscored the importance of reducing tensions and maintaining the seamless flow of maritime navigation and global supply chains, particularly through the critical Strait of Hormuz.
The meeting highlighted the strategic importance of maintaining stability in the region, with both countries recognizing the necessity of collaboration to ensure economic and security interests are upheld. The ministers reaffirmed their commitment to working together to address these regional challenges.
